From time to time, we might take a look at what we are wearing, our makeup, our hair, and think – ergh.

A heavy sigh that we are bored of how we look right now, and maybe we have been for a while.

Fear not, though; it’s super easy to give yourself a little shakeup and make yourself feel good again.

A fresh start with your look is supposed to be fun, but it can feel stressful if you have been wearing the same thing for a while.

Why should you change your style?

Well, if you don’t want to change your style, you shouldn’t! If you are comfortable and happy with how you look, then there is no need to change anything. But if you feel like any of the following, it might be time to shake it up a little.

  • You feel frustrated with how you look
  • The clothes you are wearing don’t make you feel good
  • You are going through a life change
  • You’ve been busy or are busy taking care of children
  • You are upgrading your career
  • You are rediscovering who you are

How can you change your style?

If any of the reasons above resonate with you or you are just ready for a change, then here are the tips to help you change your style quickly.

Wardrobe stocktaking

It is time to go through everything that you currently have and consider if it has a place in the new space. If it doesn’t fit, doesn’t make you feel good, and doesn’t work with the look you want – it is time to donate it.

Try and keep some basics and the outfits that you currently use for comfort. Because as you change your style, you might find that some days you don’t feel as bold as others. On those days, it is nice to have something to fall back on.

Inspiration

Take to the internet and social media to find some style inspirations – no matter what your body type, confidence levels, and budget, there are influencers that have style options for you.

Start pinning the looks on a Pinterest board, so you can see your style coming together. Not everyone has a cohesive put-together style; for some, it is very eclectic.

Use the inspiration to start buying small pieces. Try not to buy too much because this is a slow process, and you deserve time to grow. It is a great idea to find some staples like well-cut jeans and a blazer, and find some dresses online too.

Hair

Sometimes as little as a few inches of the bottom and a good hair mask can make us feel brand new. Other times you need something a little more drastic. Going for the big chop or dying your hair a bright colour are great options.

Often we try to make our hair straight when it has a deep wave or curly when it likes to be straight – sometimes, it is better to embrace what you have and learn how to work with it.

Skincare

If you don’t have a skincare routine, that is okay! In fact, it is more than okay; not everyone wants to have a 35-step skincare routine that takes 2 hours to complete in the evening. But it is a fact that our skin needs moisture for it to look good and feel comfortable. Even oily skin will benefit from a good moisturiser.

So if you have been looking at dry, scaly, flaky, oily, or even seeing some extra wrinkles appear – invest a little bit of money in a moisturiser like the CeraVe Moisturising Cream or Embryolisse Lait-Creme.

A simple one-step no-fussy option for adding a shot of moisture to your face.

Makeup

It can be a leap to go from a no-make daily life to a full-face, and you will likely need to search youtube and Instagram for plenty of tips about how to slay a full-face.

Perhaps you always wear a full face and actually you want to go more minimal, that is a fine art too!

If you changed your hair colour, the shades that you were using in terms of makeup might not look as good as they did before.

Get a consultation at your local makeup counter, and get some colour matching done so that you know what the best options are for you.

Remember that while you are busy working on the outside, you should be working on the inside too. Self-esteem and confidence are part of what make the perfect outfit. So if it has been a while since you were feeling incredible – it might be time to work on that too.

You might be trying to find your stride in more than just this area; parenting is one of the places that can be tough! Here are some tips to help: The Day-to-Day Differences of Parenting Styles: What is Your Best Fit?
