I’m sure my son’s school isn’t the only one that doesn’t seem to believe in making it easy for parents.  To be fair I’m sure it’s not a deliberate policy,  and I suspect it’s just a lack of thoughtfulness and planning ahead.

How many times have you been asked to provide something at the last-minute?  How many times have you been invited into some event at the eleventh hour making it difficult to get time off or rejig things?  How many times have you been put out by something your child’s school has or hasn’t done?

The other week I had to struggle in with book bag, water bottle, PE kit and cello, while my son rode his bike in for cycling proficiency.  The same bike that sat there unused for 3 days because he was put into a group doing their cycling later in the week.

Then there’s the cello concert.  They hold this on the same day every year: the morning of sports day.  It’s not appeared on their list of events and there has been no mention of it until less than a week before. Given that we are close to peak holiday season, there will be many who would struggle to get time off to attend at that short notice.

Then there’s the change of policy that causes problems.  My son’s class can no longer keep their water bottles under their desks.  This means that most days the water bottle is coming home nearly full.  All this at a time when I’m trying to encourage him to drink more during the day as a way of increasing bladder capacity to help with countering bedwetting.  I bet most of the class are drinking less because of it, which is a worry when the weather is hot.

Grrrr!!!
